Episode 30: I Got That Summertime Sadness

ON THIS DAY...

1850

The very first National Women's Rights Convention took place in Worcester, MA. We'd like to think we've come a long way, but we haven't gotten the ERA passed?

1838

Mount Holyoke Female Seminary, one of the first American colleges for women, graduates its first class. This is the same place that gave us Emily Dickinson!

1902

Fannie Farmer opens her School of Cookery in Boston. Before she hit the scene, cookbooks didn't include proper measurements. IMAGINE having to guesstimate ingredients...

SEE

Sexism in the health care system...you aren't imagining it. From doctors dismissing women's symptoms to concealing important information from them... You're not crazy...but you may have the wrong doctor!

Now on iTunes!

"In Her Words" is BACK with a new episode - this time we're talking what it's like to have ADHD as a grown woman. Rae Jacobson spits truth--not only on her struggle with the disease, but also on people (cough, men) not believing she even has it. Talk about frustrating.

FEEL

Sure, doctors don't prescribe masturbation as a cure for the go-to diagnosis of "hysteria" like they used to in the old days...that we know of, but if you're singing the end of summer blues, make sure to check in with yourself, or someone else. This video helps differentiate the blues, from something needing a little more care.
